HISTORY OF THE GMSV Chamber of Commerce

Blue swish
1988

CHAMBER BIRTH

In 1988 the Milford-Amherst Area Chamber of Commerce was born when several members from the Nashua Chamber realized our region’s growing economy could support its own Chamber.
1998

CHAMBER GROWTH

Ten years later, in 1998, due to growth and expanding participation from neighboring communities, the Chamber changed its name to the Souhegan Valley Chamber of Commerce, representing 11 towns within the Souhegan Valley Watershed.
2020

CHAMBERS MERGED

On February 1, 2020, the Merrimack and Souhegan Valley chambers merged together to form a new regional partnership and became the Greater Merrimack-Souhegan Valley Chamber of Commerce.
Present

OUR CHAMBER NOW

Combining our resources means the GMSV Chamber of Commerce offers a broad range of member services and programs for 12 communities. Equally as important, we are a stronger collective voice of the business community watching out for area businesses, large and small, at local, regional, and state levels. The merger significantly increased our geographical footprint, too, meaning our members have a greater reach to network, connect, and grow their businesses.

The 12 towns included in the GMSVCC are: Amherst, Brookline, Greenville, Hollis, Lyndeborough, Mason, Merrimack, Milford, Mont Vernon, New Ipswich, Temple, and Wilton.
